Jesus' Teaching

Article by Greg Camacho

Following some of Jesus’ teaching when he was in the flesh, could kill you, hurt you or make you lose all your possessions.

Through the years I’ve seen believers that want to follow Jesus’ teachings, becoming frustrated and giving up on it because the teachings were not working for them. Here is what we need to understand about His teachings.

Jesus’ messages: when he was on earth (in the flesh) and after His resurrection, ascension and glorification.

Part 1 (Jesus in the flesh)

Who is Jesus?

Mat 2:2 "... King of the Jews..”

Joh 1:49, Joh 12:13 “.. King of Israel”

Who did Jesus come for?

Joh 1:11 “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.”

To whom was His message going to?

Mat.10:6 “Yet be going rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel”.

Mat.15:24 "I was not commissioned except for the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

To whom was His message NOT to go to?

Mat.10:5 “Go not into the way of the Gentiles”

What was His message about?

Mat 4:17 "Repent! for near is the kingdom of the heavens”

Where will this Kingdom take place?

Mat.19:28 Luk.22:30 “... you may be eating and drinking at My table in My kingdom. And you will be seated on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel."

Before Jesus ascended, the Apostles asked Jesus,” Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" Acts1:6

Who will enter this Kingdom?

Mat 5:20 “If your righteousness is not greater than the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, by no means may you be entering into the kingdom of the heavens”.

Part 2 (Jesus’ message after His resurrection, ascension and glorification).

After the rejection of Jesus, the 12 Apostles and the testimony of Stephen, Israel was set aside, Rom 11:25 “blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in”

The resurrected, ascended, and glorified Jesus provided new good news (Secrets), never revealed before in the scripture to the Apostle and teacher of the Gentiles(Paul). 1 Tim2:7, 2 Tim 1: 11 “I am ordained preacher, and apostle, ... teacher of the Gentiles”

Eph.3:2-8 since you surely hear of the administration/dispensation of the grace of God that is given to me for you, For by revelation the secret is made known to me of which I became the dispenser, in accord with the gratuity of the grace of God, which is granted to me in accord with His powerful operation. To me, less than the least of all saints, was granted this grace: to bring the evangel(Gospel) of the untraceable riches of •Christ to the Gentiles”.

The Apostle Paul says in Gal 2:7 “I have been entrusted with the evangel (Gospel) of the uncircumcision….”

Some of these secrets have to do with Jesus Christ among the Gentiles(Col 1:27) and believers having a place among the celestials(Eph.1:3, Eph 2:6), and Israel being set aside(Rom 11:25), and more.

Rom 15:8 “For I am saying that Christ has become the Servant of circumcision, for the sake of the truth of God, to confirm the patriarchal promises.”

2 Co 5:16 says “So that we from now on are acquainted with not one according to flesh. Yet even if we have known Christ according to flesh, nevertheless now we know Him so not longer”.

2Ti 1:13 says “Have a pattern of sound words ...” How? See 2Ti 2:15 “… correctly cutting/ dividing the word of truth”.

We need to believe the whole Word of God and that everything in there is for our learning but not everything applies to us. Some promises made to Israel are for Israel and not for us. God in His faithfulness will fulfill all his promises to Israel, but at the moment Israel is set aside (Rom 11:25) “until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in”. Then verse 26 says “And so all Israel shall be saved”

So, Jesus’ teachings are all true and applicable, for the right time, administration/ dispensation, place and people. God’s Word deals with different dispensations, some Bible translations use the word administration. Also God’s Word deals also with different ages/eons. Today we are living in what the Bible calls the “dispensation of the grace of God” Eph.3:1 , before that it was the dispensation or administration of Law.

Part 3 (Some of Jesus’ teachings when he was in the flesh/Kingdom teaching)

Here are some of Jesus teachings that could kill you, hurt you or make you lose all your possessions.

Mar 16:18, Luk 10:19 “they shall pick up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it shall by no means hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall be well."

** Doing this has killed many people, example of that: The "snake handling" pastor of a small Pentecostal church in Kentucky died after being bitten by a rattlesnake during a weekend church service ... Jamie Coots, the pastor of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus Name in Middlesboro, Ky., was handling a rattlesnake during a service when he was bitten on his right hand Saturday night ...’ 91 snake bite deaths reported among serpent handlers since 1919 in the USA. Today the practice is most common in Southern Appalachian states, and snake handlers often use native rattlesnakes and copperheads. See video link “Snake-Handling Pastor Bitten By Deadly Rattlesnake” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OcoUyXiuU0

** In this administration/dispensation of the Grace’s of God, we are called to “walk by faith, not by sight” 2Cor 5:7

-----

Mat 18:8-9 “if your hand or your foot causes you to offend, cut them off… And if your eye offends you, pluck it out and throw it from you”.

** I was told by a friend that some people have castrated themselves because of this teaching. I could not believe it until I found this: In Nigeria “8 cut off penises, testicles for Kingdom of God” – PM News Nigeria (https://pmnewsnigeria.com)

In the administration/dispensation of the grace of God, “you are complete in Him” Col 2:10, once you believe (1 Cor 15:3-4)

-----

Mat19:21 “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven ...”

** I remember a Christian brother who told me that he sold his house and gave the money to his church based on this verse and Acts 2:45

In the administration/dispensation of the grace of God, 2Cor 9:7 says “Let each man do according as he hath purposed in his heart”.

----

Mat.5:48 “Therefore be perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect”.

Mat.10:22 “... But if you endure to the end, you will be saved”.

Luk 17:33 “Those who try to save their own life will lose it; those who lose their life will save it”

** Must be perfect, endure to the end and lose your life in order to be saved, but in the administration/dispensation of the grace of God, once you believe (1 Cor 15:3-4) , you are sealed with the Holy Spirit (Eph 1:13). “And you are complete in Him” Col 2:10, based on the works of Christ, not yours.

-----

Mat 19:17 “…But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments”

Luk 5:14 “... but let the priest see you and give an offering so that you may be made clean, as the law of Moses says (Lev 14:4-22), and for a witness to them”.

Mat 5:18-19 “For verily, I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever, then, should break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men shall be called the least in the kingdom of the heavens. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.”

** You must keep the Law and teach it, but in the administration/dispensation of the grace of God, we find in Rom 6:14 “... for you are not under law, but under grace”.

-----

Mat 21:22, 7:7, Mar 11:24, Luk 11:9 “And all, whatsoever you should be requesting in prayer, believing, you shall be getting"

** Whatsoever you should be requesting, you will receive, but the in administration/dispensation of the grace of God, the thing that is guaranteed, for sure, when we pray is the peace of God. Phi 4:6-7 “by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

-----

Joh14:12 “..the works which I'm doing, he also will be doing, and greater than these will he be doing ...”

** Jesus cured every disease and raised people from the dead. Today, you don’t see that being done at all. Once again, we are called to “walk by faith, not by sight” 2Cor 5:7
